🦉 PriceOwl tip
Dyson is one of the few brands where buying used almost always makes sense. Their motors are designed to last 10+ years, and most secondhand models have seen very light use. The Vinted and eBay listings I track regularly come in genuinely excellent condition.
Dyson cordless vacuums are the most searched-for household appliance on eBay and Vinted worldwide. New prices are steep, but the used market is excellent — Dysons are built to last and a well-maintained second-hand unit can serve you for years.

Is a Used Dyson Worth Buying?
Yes — with one important check. The battery is the only component that degrades significantly over time, and a replacement Dyson battery costs £40–£80. Always ask the seller how old the unit is and how long the battery lasts on a full charge. Anything under 20 minutes on Max mode suggests the battery needs replacing soon.
V11 vs V12 vs V15 — Which Is Best Value?
The V11 is the sweet spot for used value — it's powerful, widely available second-hand, and parts are easy to find. The V15 adds a laser dust detection feature that's genuinely useful but adds £100–£150 to the price. The V12 is slimmer and lighter — better for smaller homes.
What to Check Before Buying
- Battery run time — ask for a video of it running if buying on Vinted
- All attachments included — the crevice tool and soft roller head are the most commonly missing
- Filter condition — filters are £15 to replace and should be washed monthly
- No blockages in the bin or pipework — a quick check before purchase
